The batteries of golf cart can be left for charging overnight but it is not advisable to plug it during vacation because there is a chance for an electrical storm which may destroy the electronic speed controller or its other electrical accessories since it may be unnoticed. Another important point to note is that the batteries should not be left discharged for a prolonged period of time. If the battery turns discharged, it will result in the formation of lead sulfate and that will in turn block the sponge like holes in plates. It may ultimately destroy the battery. If the usage of battery is in a cold climate, maintaining the batteries charged will stop freezing. A battery doesn’t freeze up to 50 or 60 degrees F less than zero if it is charged fully. The water content in the battery should be above the level of plates but care should be taken so that it is about one quarter inch below the fill tube bottom. The battery filler bottle will stop automatically at the appropriate level. It is safe to use distilled water since the minerals such as chlorine, fluoride etcetera in the tap water reacts with the battery lead and as a result the lifespan of batteries will be reduced.
