Clean the batteries well and confirm that all the cell caps are in tact. Then unplug the charger and the battery compartment should be washed well. Start spraying the battery acid neutralizer form one side of the cart and then on top of the batteries. Confirm spraying between the batteries, downside of the racks, and on the body panel walls. A paintbrush can be used to clean the battery sides and tops. Clean the battery terminals and connection wires. Make sure that the cables are tightly connected. There should not be any sideways movement or looseness. Check for the presence of corrosion in the battery terminals and if present suitable anti-corrosion agents to be used. The water levels in each cell should be checked periodically. Distilled water should be used for filling and ensure that the water level remains above the plates.

A golf cart battery should not be left plugged for extended periods. When the charging is over, remove the charger from the cart as well as from the wall.
